A little about me

Well I live in Horsham, West Sussex with my partner and two step children and we have a new child on the way (5 months in as of December 2008). I currently work for Ace and insurance and re-insurance company in Crawley (West Sussex) as an Analyst Programmer were I have gained full life cycle development and support experience.

I graduated from Sussex University (Brighton) in 2006 with a 2:2 Studying Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. I very much enjoyed my time at Sussex and learnt so much. It has changed my life, significantly for the better in far more ways than I had expected it would or even could.

Before University I worked at Transco. My main responsibilities there were to help keep the management up to date with the progress of the Crawley branch compared to the other regional offices. This involved data mining and presenting the data in various formats depending on what was required at the time. The main programs I used were MS Access, Business Objects, Excel and a basic use of Crystal Reporting.

I have learnt a number of languages over the past few years, some of which include:

  • C#
  • Java
  • PHP (LAMP Server environment, Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP)
  • VBA within MS Excel and MS Access

My interests are quiet varied, I enjoy web development as well as any other application development. If the project is interesting and challenging I like to give it a go. I do a lot of my work to learn how things work and how to develop my knowledge and skill level. I maintain my own servers to host my site and be able to practice some of my development work.
